Duties:
Determining all natural disaster risks and local ground problems while making spatial planning and construction in residential areas is of great importance in making decisions for safe land use.
In this context, disaster hazards are determined through geological-geotechnical or microzonation studies, and the suitability for settlement is revealed, and thus disaster risks are reduced with disaster-oriented planning.
The following duties are counted among the those of the General Directorate of Spatial Planning: In the clause (d) of Article 7 of the Decree Law No. 644, "To determine and follow the rules for the preparation and approval of risk management and avoidance plans, to make, have and approve geological and geotechnical studies based on the plan. . ”In the clause (ı),“ Integrated coastal zone management and planning studies, work and procedures regarding the arrangement of coastal areas and geological and geotechnical studies related to these areas, have them fulfilled accordingly, approve, determine, confirm and register the coastline. ”
In this context, the following duties are carried out by the General Directorate of Spatial Planning, Department of Geological Surveys.
To conduct, make and approve geological-geotechnical and microzonation studies based on the plan,
To determine the principles and standards for risk identification and contingency plans and geological-geotechnical and microzonation studies, as well as revealing the methods and techniques, conducting legislative studies, ensuring the improvement and development of the process accordingly,
To prepare, implement and monitor action plans for risk identification and contingency plans and geological-geotechnical and microzonation studies,
To ensure the coordination between Ministries, local administrations, professional organizations and related parties in the works and transactions related to geological-geotechnical or microzonation studies,
To organize meetings, attending meetings, monitoring international developments, proposing and carrying out necessary projects,
To cooperate with stakeholder institutions and organizations on risk identification and contingency planning,
To fulfill other duties assigned by the General Directorate regarding the field of activity.
