Land Development plans with scales of 1/5000 and 1/1000 were approved on 31.07.2012 within the borders of “Büyük Çamlıca Special Project Area” (26 ha). Recreation and (13.45 ha) parking areas (4.84 ha) and religious facility areas (5.75 ha) were allocated in the plan.

 

A competition for Çamlıca Mosque was organized by Istanbul Association of Building and Keeping Alive Mosques, Educational and Cultural Buildings with the title "Çamlıca is looking for the architects of its silhouette" to have the mosque built in the religious facility area.  Projects were investigated within the context of solutions regarding the silhouette of the city of Istanbul, design policies regarding integrative landscaping and design decisions and the contribution they would make to the mosque structure and immediate surroundings of this structure and a decision was made for the project to be implemented. The construction works regarding the mosque, which will add value to Istanbul and which will become one of the symbols of Istanbul, were started.
