Duties

a) To prepare, draw up, approve the strategies, and ensure that the implementation is carried out in accordance with these strategies, in cooperation with relevant institutions and organizations, of environmental plans, which guide settlement, construction and land use, and constitute the basis for physical plans and practices of all types and scales.

b) To carry out works & studies on national and regional spatial development strategies in accordance with development policies, to carry out all kinds of researches and studies.

c) To establish targets and strategies regarding urban and spatial development, as well as preparing action plans regarding the same, making the necessary legislative studies, implementing and monitoring them.

ç) To take the necessary measures in order to ensure that sectoral plans, physical plans of all types and scales, and environmental plans are in compliance with the targets and decisions of spatial strategy plans

d) To reveal the procedures and principles of the spatial strategy planning process, to ensure the improvement and development of the process, to reveal the management and implementation models that will ensure the implementation of the plan.

e) To execute and coordinate the KENTGES Integrated Urban Development Strategy and Action Plan (2010-2023), which was approved by the High Planning Council's decision dated 25.10.2010 and numbered 2010/34 and published in the Official Gazette dated 4 November 2010 and numbered 27749; to monitor and inspect its implementation; to introduce the necessary models for the implementation of this Action Plan; to develop all kinds of cooperation with institutions responsible for actions and local governments; To develop projects for the realization of actions and to support those developed.

f) To determine and approve the procedures and principles regarding village settlement plans located in neighboring areas and adjacent areas of municipalities.

g) To determine the procedures and principles regarding rural settlement and housing conditions, to direct the preparation of village design guides.

h) To fulfill similar duties assigned by the Head of Department.
